Ducks Fly in Perfect V-Shape for Free Rides
When ducks migrate, they line up in a V formation so that each bird catches rising air from the wingbeats of the bird ahead. This clever teamwork saves energy and lets the flock travel farther without tiring. The lead duck works hardest, so they rotate positions during long flights.
๐ก Fun detail:
Scientists have measured that the trailing ducks use 50 percent less effort than the leader, making the V a living energy-saving highway in the sky.
