Earth’s Core Is Hotter Than the Sun’s Surface
Deep inside our planet, the inner core reaches temperatures of about 5,400 °C. This exceeds the surface temperature of the Sun, which is around 5,500 °C only at its visible layer. Heat from radioactive decay and leftover formation energy keeps the iron core molten and spinning.
💡 Fun detail:
The pressure at the core is so extreme that the iron is solid despite being hotter than the Sun’s surface.
