Carrier Pigeons Delivered Wartime Photos
During World War II, special cameras were strapped to homing pigeons so they could fly over enemy territory and return with aerial photographs. The tiny cameras weighed only a few ounces yet captured surprisingly clear images. These bird-powered missions provided valuable intelligence when human pilots could not fly safely.
๐ก Fun detail:
Some pigeons completed round trips of more than 300 miles while carrying their miniature cameras.
